I arrived at 6:30 am for a morning hike, or, as we need to start calling it in Florida, “walking” lol. This is one of my go-to hikes when there’s nothing currently planned. There’s not much “unique” Flora on this particular trail, and the Fauna, I think they were all hiding. However, I generally play music at low volume while on hikes. (I don’t generally play music unless there’s no one else on trail.)
Here’s a view of the area, I had to boost the audio, the birds weren’t yelling yet, they were still waking up. Lol
And, describing the trail this AM.
Came across this cute little turtle, I’m horrible at recognizing which they are, it’s gotta be either a box turtle or a gopher tortoise. Don’t even try to ask me about birds, I have no clue. Spending time trying to look up animals and their names while on-trail is not something I strive for. 🤣 I did however move him forward a few feet to get him out of the middle of the trail. This trail is used by a ton of people that race on bikes. Didn’t want the little guy to get run over.
…Continuing the trail… 😊
And here’s the north most trail cut. There’s two of these on this trail, in case someone can’t make the entire thing, which has happened to a few people, including me years back. *Keep the sound muted, I dunno what happened with the audio and I’m not wasting time correcting a 10 second clip.
…Continuing the trail… 😊
Here’s a full video view of the preserve, and why I hate hiking in Florida… There’s no friggin challenge when the land is 100% flat.
…Continuing the trail… 😊
This is one of the many resting spots (no camping here at all) on this trail. I was surprised to see it finally mowed. I didn’t take a picture of it last time I was here but the grass was at least 3 feet long. Never realized they bring mowers into the preserve.

And finally… Come on people, really? What part of “Leave only footprints, take only memories” doesn’t anyone understand. LOL Keep our land beautiful, stop friggin littering!!!! Also, my entire track. This is NOT a difficult trail at all. Even at my heaviest a few years back I was still able to complete it with a 28 lb pack on my back. You got this! ❤️
Happy Camping!
See you on the trail!
